Position: Construction Safety Officer

Our client, a leading construction and engineering company with major
power plant projects in Kenya seeks to fill the following positions:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing valuable
assistance and direction to management, projects and personnel in the
administration, implementation and maintenance of health and safety
program.
Key Responsibilities
• Implement and maintain safety and health programs for general contractors.
• Be responsible for the safety and health of subcontractors on the site.
• Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and are working well.
• Overseeing safety audits and keeping records of inspections’ findings and producing reports that suggest improvements.
• Ensuring that staff are inducted according to the Safety Procedure.
• Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working
knowledge of all environmental, health and safety legislation and any
developments in the industry, and liaising with regulatory bodies to
ensure compliance.
• Maintaining a system for recording, reporting and investigating injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences in the site.
• Providing regular statistical summaries to Management and drawing attention to significant trends and occurrences.
Qualification/Experience
• Degree in Engineering
• Professional Certification in Occupational Health & Safety.
• Must have three years of onsite construction safety management experience.
• Flexibility to varying working hours.
• A mature individual with high level of discretion and unquestionable integrity.
• Must also be first aid trained.
Position: Construction Document Controller (2 Positions)
Location: Naivasha
Industry: Construction
The job holder will be responsible for maintenance and management of
all important project documents and ensure that they are easily
accessible and stored. He or she will also maintain and examine related
files to release blueprints, drawings, and engineering documents to the
technical team.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate all activities related to the Document Control
procedure, including technical documents, drawings, and commercial
correspondence.
• Input document data into the standard registers ensuring that the information is accurate and up to date.
• Generate the various document control reports as required.
• Typing of site documents, and follow up of all the site needs
• Make sure that controlled copies of latest approved documents and
drawings are given to the appropriate staff, subcontractors and
suppliers as applicable
• Maintain updated records of all approved documents and drawings and their distribution clearly
• Maintain the documents and drawings in the Document Control office
under safe custody without any damage or deterioration with easy
traceability.
• Maintain the files and control logs as required by the project.
Qualification/Experience
• At least a degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
• At least 2 years related work experience in office work, documentation and control
• Knowledge of Engineering disciplines like Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical
• Knowledge in use of spreadsheets, database, word processing and selected job specific software.
• Ability to keep clear and accurate records and reports.
• Ability to use computer and rapidly input data and retrieve records and information.
• Ability to organize work load and to manage a filing methods and management techniques
Position: HVAC Engineer – Experienced (Heating, Ventilation Air Conditioning Engineer)
Location: Naivasha
Industry: Construction
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing
engineering support and technical expertise to geothermal power plant
project related to heat, ventilation and Air conditioning systems
through all phases of the project and ensure the reliability and
maintainability of mechanical equipment and systems.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• To design in-house engineered works including drawing,
specifications/data sheets, material requisition and bills of
quantities.
• To review design of HVAC equipment including drawing,
specifications/data sheets, material requisition and bills of
quantities.
• To perform / review Cooling and Heating Load calculations and
ventilation requirement, design drawings, HVAC control- and fire
protection systems.
• To select HVAC equipment such as Chillers, AHUs and HVAC
accessories (air outlets, volume dampers, fire dampers, sound
attenuators, etc.)
• To perform Duct & pipe sizing calculation & preparation of
D&ID, Air flow diagram, General Arrangement for ducting layout.
• To provide support for Installation, Inspecting & testing,
commissioning and maintenance of HVAC installation systems and
equipment.
• To issue and develop Company Design General Specifications (DGS),
Standards, procedures and guidelines related to HVAC for use in-house or
by the Contractors with regard to projects undertaken.
Qualification/Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 5 years’ experience in Engineering and Design of HVAC systems experience, with minimum 3 years in power plant.
• Education / training in Refrigeration, Heat , ventilation and Air conditioning is preferred
• Knowledge of codes and standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, ASME, ASTM, NFPA, etc.
• Knowledge of application software for heat load calculation and
duct & Pipe design software & Equipment Selection Software, etc.
