Claims Officer- Recoveries
 
The position is responsible for execution of cost-efficient operational performance of the claims department and service delivery with consistency in the application of the Company’s claims policies and practices.

Specific responsibilities:

 
  • Periodical review of all recovery files to ensure our recoveries are not time barred
  • Writing demand letters to third parties and third party insurers.
  • Appointment of advocates and investigators for recovery purposes
  • Updating recovery register
  • Recoveries per the knock for knock agreement
  • Negotiations with third party insurers for quick settlement of claims
  • Continuous reserving and reviews of files
  • Liaise with assessor and investigators in the analysis of material damage claims
  • Ensure proper documentation of claims by both insured and third parties
  • Liaison with other departments
  • Liaising with the underwriting department on policy conditions and proposals
  • Legal in respect of litigation matters
  • Customer Service
  • Ensuring that all enquiries by clients either through mail, email or telephone are responded to promptly and appropriately
  • Ensuring that discharge Vouchers are dispatched to clients promptly
  • Maintaining requisite registers and ensuring that they are promptly and regularly updated
  • Regularly briefing the departmental manager and making consultations
  • Management information
  • Entering claims data into the system
  • Preparing recovery reports
  • Preparing regular performance reports and loss ratios
  • Reserving and closing of files in the system

Minimum Qualifications.

 
  • At least 1-2 year’s experience in insurance/Claims.
  • University degree
  • A Diploma in Insurance or CII qualification is essential,
  • Good interpersonal skills, excellent communications and analytical skills.
  • Well developed computer skills.
